MYLVA valida con Tecnalia la eficacia de sus protectores de made

“TECNALIA supports businesses in the development of effective solutions for wood preservative products”.

TECNALIA’s Biological Testing Laboratory has worked with MYLVA to assess the efficacy of its products against wood-boring insects, in compliance with standards EN 46, EN 118 and EN 1390.

MYLVA commissioned TECNALIA’s experts to assess the efficacy of the company’s wood protection products against these biological agents. Termites and woodworm are wood-boring insects that pose a significant threat to wooden structures and building elements. They can compromise the stability of buildings, damage furniture and ornamental objects and cause high repair costs.

The tests were carried out in TECNALIA’s laboratories, which are accredited by ENAC for the performance of all the tests required for the European (ECHA) and national registration of this type of PT8 Biocide products. All these tests follow the European regulations applicable to each insect and class of use for which the protective product to be tested is intended.

Standards EN 46, EN 118 and EN 1390

    Preventive testing

    • EN 46: Determination of preventive action against recently hatched larvae of Hylotrupes bajulus by assessing mortality and larval penetration in treated wood.
    • EN 118: Determination of preventive action against Reticulitermes spp., by force-feeding tests, measuring the area consumed by termites and the biological activity.

    Eradicant test

    • EN 1390: Determination of the eradicant action against Hylotrupes bajulus larvae, under laboratory conditions, including parameters such as mortality rate, feeding behaviour and efficacy.

Josu Arancón, Head of the efficacy testing laboratory for protective products at TECNALIA, highlighted:  “Our aim is to offer companies in the industry reliable and proven solutions. In this case, we applied European regulations that allow MYLVA to prove the efficacy of its products against wood-boring insects, facilitating its positioning in European markets with high technical requirements

Carmen Echevarría, Head of Regulatory Affairs at MYLVA, said:  “Thanks to our work with TECNALIA, we have been able to validate the efficacy of our wood preservatives NEW SERPOL BASIC and SERPOL GEL II in accordance with European regulations. This collaboration provides us with technical support to increase customer confidence and facilitate access to new markets.
