Mungia (Bizkaia), 21st May 2025. Arteche, a global leader in equipment, components and solutions for the energy sector, and TECNALIA, a benchmark research and technological development centre in Europe, have entered into a framework collaboration agreement, thus taking another step forward in their solid path as technological partners. This strategic agreement aims to strengthen the innovation capacity of both Arteche and TECNALIA, accelerating the development of advanced and sustainable technologies applied to the electricity sector through collaboration with high added value.

The agreement revolves around strategic lines of collaboration in algorithms for asset monitoring and management, software applications for substation protection and control systems, cybersecurity and circular economy and product sustainability.

TECNALIA will collaborate with Arteche in the creation of new products, technology transfer and the training of talent. It will also support the analysis of the feasibility of technological developments and the identification of strategic alliances, thus facilitating the joint promotion of R&D projects and the acceleration of bringing new developments to the market.

TECNALIA and ARTECHE will also work together on standards and regulatory needs, creating pioneering laboratory infrastructures that will address both the current and future needs of new products, enabling them to significantly accelerate their access to the market, ensuring compliance with the highest standards.

In the words of Óscar Fernández de Retana, Chief Technology Officer of Arteche: "The agreement with TECNALIA reinforces our position as a benchmark in innovation and sustainability in the electricity sector. This collaboration will provide us with access to advanced knowledge and resources, strengthening our ability to develop cutting-edge technological solutions. We look forward to the opportunities that working closely with TECNALIA will provide in terms of technological development, training and capacity building of our teams and in the field of energy transition".

Jose Luis Elejalde, Director of Energy, Climate and Urban Transition at TECNALIA: "We are committed to collaboration as a lever to grow and create a better and more sustainable world, and accompanying leading companies like Arteche is an opportunity to position ourselves in key sectors for industry and society. R&D is more strategic and global than ever and TECNALIA's mission is to support companies in adapting to the challenges of the future. We anticipate their problems and turn them into opportunities to enhance their competitiveness in a changing world.

We are committed to talent development and sustainability

In order to increase the implementation capacity of Arteche's technical teams, the agreement includes the integration of TECNALIA's resident researchers. This approach will enable Arteche to increase its operational capacity. TECNALIA will also offer a talent recruitment and training service, ensuring that the teams acquire advanced skills after a period of training at this research centre.

In terms of sustainability, Arteche will work with TECNALIA to promote and accelerate its decarbonisation strategy. This effort is part of Arteche's broader ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) commitment, which aims to achieve 100% renewable electricity consumption by 2030 and reduce the company's carbon footprint by 50% with respect to 2021, thus advancing in the transition to a sustainable energy model.
