The president of REPSOL has visited TECNALIA to learn about its developments in the digitalisation of the energy sector

Bilbao, 14th June 2018. This morning, the President of REPSOL, Antonio Brufau, has visited the TECNALIA Research and Technological Development Centre on the Bizkaia Science and Technology Park, accompanied by the President of TECNALIA, Emiliano López Atxurra, and the CEO, Iñaki San Sebastián.

During the visit, a meeting was held with different TECNALIA researchers, who showed the President of REPSOL the technological solutions they are developing and launching on the market with companies in the field of the digitalisation of the energy sector.

To do so, different skills were revealed, related to the digital technologies for the transformation of the energy sector, involving the use of technologies related to data analysis and behaviour prediction, the use of artificial intelligence to optimise distribution networks or the use of virtual reality, augmented reality and the digital twin to improve the performance of the processes. Digital solutions that are transforming production in the energy sector, including robotics were also shown.

During the meeting, the important role that cyber-security and the new technologies, such as Blockchain, play in the digitalisation of industry and the energy sector were highlighted. In addition, the Blockchain Laboratory that TECNALIA has at its facilities was also visited, the first in Europe to help industrial companies guarantee the security and efficiency of digital transactions.
