Recycling, production and sustainable construction in Old Havana

29 January 2018

We are celebrating ten years of collaboration with Old Havana

With the aim of celebrating this important milestone in our cooperation with Old Havana, we held a national workshop in Palacio del Segundo Cabo, entitled “Recycling, Production and Sustainable Construction in Old Havana”. The entities that have been collaborating these past ten years are TECNALIA, the Basque Agency for Development Cooperation and Havana's Office of the City Historian.

At this two-day workshop, specialists and executives, university professors and officers from the Office of the City Historian exchanged knowledge of recycling of waste and other elements for the production of construction materials.

TECNALIA is thankful for these past ten years of collaboration and for being able to provide the infrastructure required to speed up and catalyse training and construction/restoration processes in Old Havana. Awareness-raising projects have also been carried out with workers and locals, and officers in the institution have been trained in the area of recycling.

All these actions carried out over the past ten years have been funded by the Basque Government thanks to development cooperation funds managed by the Basque Agency for Development Cooperation.
