TECNALIA develops tools to analyse digitalisation status of maritime safety training centres

27 October 2020

Transfer of innovation results expected to pave way for new products, services and processes

TECNALIA is developing a range of activities and tools to analyse the digitalisation status of Maritime Safety Training Centres (MSTCs). It is also helping in the design a hybridisation method to implement the selected technology solutions.

AT-VIRTUAL is a European initiative which promotes the transfer of innovation results to pave the way for new products, services and processes, thus strengthening Atlantic Europe's response to maritime incidents and emergency situations, while also fostering innovation and sustainable growth.

On the basis of the needs identified by MSTCs, a series of technological challenges have been defined, for which startups are invited to submit solutions and/or prototypes.

AT-VIRTUAL is co-funded by the Interreg Atlantic Area programme, of which TECNALIA is a partner, along with other organisations from France, Ireland, Portugal and Spain. Its overall objective is to accelerate the digitization of MSTCs in the Atlantic Area, promoting the development of emerging Industry 4.0-related technologies and simulation-based training systems for maritime security operations.

The first calls for IoT challenges launched by two MSTCs opened recently, for all startups in the Atlantic Area, including the Basque Country.
