Technological asset
NEGOLIGNINA consists of a new process of converting lignin into a family of polyether-polyols that, through subsequent reactions common in the chemical sector (low technological risk), can be transformed into different high added-value chemicals, destined to accumulated markets exceeding €200B.
There is a mega-trend, both in society and in the chemical sector itself, that demands greener, more sustainable chemicals, that are not derived from fossil resources (bio-products).
Lignin, as a source of biomass raw material, is one of the four most abundant natural biodegradable polymers on Earth. More than 50 Mt/year are generated annually from this aromatic biopolymer, which is currently destined for energy recovery.
